RCMP spokesperson Cpl. James Mason also reported Tuesday that charges have been laid in an earlier dangerous-driving incident in Surrey and Langley.
Police were called on Jan. 3 about a suspected impaired driver near the 13900-block of Fraser Highway.
Officers and the helicopter spotted the vehicle, a silver Mercedes SUV, soon after and the driver again failed to stop for police.
Mason said the driver allegedly continued driving recklessly after police vehicles gave up the ground chase.
The SUV finally stopped in the parking lot of Willowbrook Mall in Langley, where Langley RCMP officers converged and arrested the male driver and a female passenger, who was later released without charge.
Brad Donald Parisian, 47, has been charged with dangerous driving, flight from police, possession of a forged document and failing to comply with an order.
He is in custody until his next court appearance.
“Dangerous driving puts the public and everyone else on the road at risk,” said Mason in a statement, while thanking all the officers involved.
