United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Friday warned the Security Council at an emergency meeting that civil order is at risk of breakdown in Gaza where Israel pursues its offensive. The 15 Security Council members are set to vote on calling for an immediate ceasefire, FRANCE 24’s Catherine Norris Trent said. The United Arab Emirates-tabled resolution would only be adopted if nine members voted in favour and no permanent members exercised their veto against it, Norris Trent said, adding that an US veto is expected.
