On Tuesday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police announced the arrest of terrorist Adil Manzoor, who was involved in the tragic shooting incident targeting two laborers from Punjab in the Srinagar region of the Union Territory. The victims, Amritpal Singh and Rohit Masih, were attacked at their residence on February 7.
Sadly, Amritpal Singh lost his life on the spot, while Rohit Masih, despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, succumbed to his injuries later. Hailing from the Amritsar district of Punjab, the two laborers had ventured to Jammu and Kashmir to support their impoverished families.
Following the shootings, the police swiftly cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to apprehend the perpetrators.
This incident marks the first terrorist attack against non-locals in Jammu and Kashmir this year, raising concerns within the security establishment. The attack stirred memories of the violence witnessed in 2019-20, where non-locals were specifically targeted in the valley.
