The Met Office issued an amber weather warning, indicating flying debris is possible and could lead to injuries or danger to life, which is in place for southwestern areas of both England and Wales until 7pm.Â
The torrential downpours forced homes in some areas of the UK and Ireland to be evacuated, while the isles were battered by gusts of wind, which reached up to 78mph in Berry Head, Devon. Â
Eight people were evacuated from their homes in Clontarf, Dublin, due to flooding, Dublin Fire Brigade said.
Met Office meteorologist Tom Morgan said the storm, which is the first to be named by the Met Office this season, could see winds of up to 70mph on the coast and 60mph inland.
