Police will investigate after a restaurant in Old Montreal was damaged by arson early Thursday morning.

No one was in the restaurant when the fire broke out at around 4:20 a.m., Montreal’s police service said Thursday. No one was injured.

The restaurant is on St-Jacques St. W., near the intersection with St-Laurent Blvd.
Firefighters said one of the building’s windows had been smashed and that a Molotov cocktail had been thrown inside the restaurant, police said.
Fire and water damage was contained within the building.
Due to the criminal origin of the incident, the investigation was turned over to the police service’s arson squad. Investigators are expected to be dispatched to the scene at some time Thursday.
