In a surprise move this morning, the chain announced details of a temporary discount on certain petrol and diesel fuel, with prices slashed by 20c a litre.
From 1-4pm today, the price of Premium Miles and MilesPLUS fuel at participating Circle K outlets will be reduced by 20c a litre at participating outlets across the island of Ireland.
However, some of its outlets are excluded from the offer, and the fuel retailer issued a list of those where it doesn’t apply.
Gordon Lawlor, managing director of the company, which has 2,400 employees and more than 400 stations across the island of Ireland, said the decision follows a “positive response” to its Christmas fuel promotion last year.
“To celebrate Christmas this year, we are really pleased to once again announce details of our limited time fuel promotion as a special festive thank you to our loyal customers,” Mr Lawlor said.
Mr Lawlor stressed that he hopes today’s fuel promotion will help customers go a little further for less as we “come into the busy Christmas period.”

“On behalf of everyone at Circle K I would like to thank customers for their support during 2023 and wish them all a very merry Christmas,” Mr Lawlor added.
There are, however, terms and conditions attached to the offer.
There is a maximum of 100 litres for one vehicle fill per customer.
Additionally, the offer is valid on Miles and MilesPLUS unleaded and diesel only, with some stores excluded from the offer.
The offer applies to filling vehicles only, so customers can’t bring along containers to fill up.
The offer is also not valid in conjunction with a fuel card or with any other fuel offer, and is subject to availability.
With petrol and diesel prices around €1.70 per litre, the reduction means the cost per litre in the three-hour window should drop to €1.50.

“Saved €12 on my tank today.. thank you Circle K,” another X user shared.
Some motorists reported increased traffic as a result of the promotion, with one driver describing the scenes as “bedlam”.
“Traffic bedlam after I finished work, then it turned out to be the circle k customers queueing up for their 20 cent discount!!!!!
“Life is just too short…They will burn off what they save just queueing,” the driver posted.
Another road user wrote: “That time of year again. Traffic chaos on the Park Rd. 20c off fuel in Circle K.”
Responding to customer’s concerns about traffic disruption, after the similar promotion last year caused traffic chaos, Cogans Circle K in Co Cork said it would not to participate and, instead, make a donation to Carrigaline Community First Responders.
“We listened to customer and community feedback regarding traffic disruption arising from the Circle K Fuel Promotion in December 2022.
“Instead of participating in today’s promotion, we have decided to make a donation to Carrigaline Community First Responders – CFR’s and the work they do attending cardiac or respiratory arrest and choking emergencies,” they announced on Facebook.
