Latest Update on COVID-19 and JN.1 Variant in India
As of December 21, India has reported a total of 22 cases of the JN.1 COVID variant. Official sources confirm no clustering of COVID-19 cases, and symptoms remain mild.
Current Status of Coronavirus Cases:
The country has 2,997 active COVID-19 cases, with 640 new infections recorded on December 22. The total COVID-19 tally stands at 4.50 crore (4,50,07,212). The death toll has reached 5,33,328, with one additional fatality reported from Kerala. Recoveries have increased to 4,44,70,887, maintaining a national recovery rate of 98.81%, as per the health ministry’s website.
The case fatality rate is 1.19%, and the country has administered 220.67 crore doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
