GIFT Nifty derivatives on NSE International Exchange (NSE IX) witnessed a record first session with a single-day trading activity of more than 2,14,000 contracts and a turnover of USD 8.5 billion on Monday, stated an official release.
The traded contract volume and turnover value witnessed significant growth of over 530 per cent and 600 per cent, respectively, compared to the first-day full-scale operations volume of 33,570 contracts with a turnover of USD 1.21 billion, the statement added.
The Indian Express had reported that the full-scale operation of Gift Nifty began at GIFT City on July 3 after it shifted from Singapore Exchange (SGX) to NSE IX. “Since the first day of full-scale operations of the Connect (NSE IX-SGX GIFT Connect), Gift Nifty has witnessed a total cumulative volume of 7.86 lakh contracts with a total cumulative turnover of USD 30.28 billion,” the release added. Gift Nifty offers access to Gift Nifty 50, Gift Nifty Bank, Gift Nifty Financial Services among others.
