Former NSW police officer Pia Schindler says the “hardest” part of her job was separating it from her personal life.
Ms Schindler sat with Sky News host Erin Molan to discuss her experiences as a former police officer.
“At a point you don’t want to bring it home, you don’t want to expose your family or friends to what you’ve experienced,” she told Ms Molan.
“But after time, that really takes a toll on your mental health – that lack of empathy, that lack of connection.
“So I guess the spiralling then out of control in terms of your emotions or not identifying with your emotions can really have an effect.”
