Edmonton police have arrested six people connected to a series of auto thefts of idling vehicles.
Throughout the month of March, cops were noticing an increase in early morning thefts of vehicles idling. On March 21, the Targeted Response to Auto Theft Prevention (TRAP) teams discovered four stolen vehicles at a west Edmonton motel, city police said in a Thursday release.

Caleb Marks, 33 was arrested and charged with seven offences, including possession of stolen property, driving while disqualified and breach of court order.
After further investigation, police identified an “associated” home in west Edmonton on March 26 where officers found three more stolen vehicles, including a 2017 Jaguar F-Pace that was reported stolen from Spruce Grove earlier that morning.
Police arrested three men and two women in connection to that case.
Kristopher Prasad, 27, Michael Night, 35, Britney Dyck, 22, Alexander Carriere, 34 and Tammy Glimps, 42, face 24 criminal charges including theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, possession of stolen property and breach of court order.
“We are pleased to be able to lay charges and put an end to this recent spike in auto thefts associated with this group,” said TRAP Sgt. Ian Strom in a release. “While leaving your vehicle idling should not make you a victim to crime, the suspects who commit auto crimes are looking for easy targets. That’s why we encourage Edmontonians to lock up and turn off their unattended vehicles.”
Last year, TRAP made 490 arrests resulting in over 1,700 criminal charges and the recovery of over $18,000,000 in stolen vehicles and equipment.
