Forget your antique furniture and second-hand cars, Wilson Auctions in Dublin is selling a bar of gold, among many other items seized by the Criminal Assets Bureau this afternoon.
The famous auction house on the Naas Road is more renowned for selling tractors and vans for knock down prices but as of this morning they opened up a rare online ‘Government Luxury Goods’ auction.
Wilson’s is normally used for selling land and vehicles but this weekend you can buy a bar of gold
Rolex and Cartier watches, as well as expensive luxury handbags make up most of the lots in the unique sale, but the eagle-eyed buyers will have also noticed that there is this packaged gold bar.
Weighing in at one ounce, the current gold market would suggest the seller could make as much as €2k but the novelty of the lot may result in the bidding going higher.
As of 10am this morning 1oz of gold costs €1,894 on the open market.
If gold isn’t your thing, then you might be interested to know that there are diamond rings, Prada, Louis Vuitton and Chanel bags as well as dozens of high-end timepieces.
But all eyes will be on Lot No. 2 next Monday when the Government auction comes to a close.
