BBC Breakfast presenter Naga hosted the Friday morning instalment of the morning news programme with Charlie Stayt, while Matt replaced Carol and presented the weather news.
While concluding his final report of the show, the meteorologist started explaining to the audience that temperatures had plummeted, and this was when he made the hilarious mistake.
Matt said: “It’s not going to be a particularly warm day, but actually, temperatures where they should be at this stage in February,” before insisting he meant November.
Instantly, everyone in the studio burst with laughter as Matt teased: “I’m skipping ahead. Let’s bypass Christmas, shall we?”

He continued: “It will be a mild one before things turn cooler next week, and perhaps in February as well.”
Naga giggled as she told her co-star: “It’s one thing to miss out a day or a week, but to miss a season!” Matt laughed: “I have no idea where I was.”
The weather reporter tried to convince himself that he had covered the blunder well, but Charlie quickly spotted out that he had heard Naga’s loud laugh.
Looking at Naga, he said: “I heard the laugh.”
Still trying to contain her laughter, the BBC star responded: “I’m sorry, I did find it funny because you very rarely make mistakes! But it was impeccably recovered.”
Matt concluded his segment as Naga and Charlie returned to hosting the rest of the show.
