Rachel Notley to resign as Alberta NDP leader
Who could run to replace Rachel Notley as head of the Alberta NDP?
“The Alberta NDP is a party rooted in the values of social justice, equity, and fairness,” Freistadt added. “When members join our party, they sign on to upholding those values and make a commitment to supporting our values.”
The NDP’s constitution requires that votes be accepted both online and through mail-in-ballots, and the party said it also aims to have a telephone option.
Candidates will have a spending limit of $500,000, and will be be required to submit fees of $60,000 to participate. A complete rules package is expected to be posted on the NDP website next week, the party said.
Notley announced on Jan. 16 that she would be stepping down after almost a decade as leader.
