A woman who abandoned a seven-week-old French bulldog in a short-term parking lot at Pittsburgh Airport will be charged once cops track her down.

The French bulldog was found ‘unattended in a stroller’ last Friday around 5:30am near short-term parking at Pittsburgh International Airport.

The seven-year-old canine was found to be in good health after the ordeal and was taken to a local animal shelter, where it is now hoping for a new, kinder home.

But cops are eager to help bring the woman to justice – so long as they can make contact with her.

‘We are pursuing charges,’ a spokesperson for the Allegheny County Police Department told the New York Post Friday.

‘We’re working in coordination with the state dog ward and humane officers, along with the Allegheny County District Attorney’s office.

‘Initially, [we] were considering animal abandonment charges…but [we’re] keeping our options open.’

If the state dog warden to file charges of animal abandonment, she could face a maximum fine of up to $1000.

‘It’s an active investigation,’ the police official said.

The woman reportedly made the shameful decision to leave the dog at the airport after she failed to convince airline staff it was an emotional support animal, Sgt. Jason Donaldson of Allagheny County Police Department told WTAE-TV.

He added that the woman then continued with her vacation and flew to a resort without the canine, although he did not reveal her destination.

‘We were able to determine that the dog’s owner had attempted to fly with the dog and was denied boarding due to having an improper cargo container,’ he added.

The pup was taken to local shelter Animal Friends which has been inundated with offers to adopt the dog.

‘We are grateful for the interest and compassion, but for now we are focused on moving this case forward and ensuring the dog receives the justice he deserves,’ a representative said.

‘The outcome of the case will determine his next steps and his final home.’

It comes months after a New Jersey man was charged with several offenses, including neglect and animal abandonment, after he left his dog tied up outside an Iowa airport so he could catch a flight home.

Bigsen Charles, 24, claims that he didn’t know he needed a kennel to transport his puppy on the plane, and made the same decision as the woman in Pittsburgh last week as he too left the pup outside the airport and make his journey alone instead.

When airport officials saw the abandoned dog they immediately contacted Animal Rescue League of Iowa, leading to adorable footage of the dog beaming as it played with staff in the shelter.

Charles admitted to DailyMail.com at the time that he ‘knows he made the wrong decision.
