The women’s semi-finals will play out today on Centre Court
Carlos Alcaraz is through to his first Wimbledon semi-final after defeating Holger Rune 7-6 6-4 6-4 to set up a clash with Daniil Medvedev. The Spaniard edged an entertaining first set on a tiebreak before showing his class in the second and third, in what was the first Wimbledon quarter-final between two men under the age of 21 in the Open era.
In the other men’s quarter-final on Wednesday, Christopher Eubanks’ dream run was ended in a five-set thriller by Medvedev, the third seed. The American was two sets to one up but eventually Medvedev prevailed with a 6-4 1-6 4-6 7-6(4) 6-1 victory.
Today’s play on Centre Court will see Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina continue her dream run in the first women’s semi-final against Marketa Vondrousova of Czech Republic, in an unseeded clash. In the other semi-final, Ons Jabeur will take on second-seed Aryna Sabalenka after the Tunisian sixth seed saw off her conquerer in last year’s final, Elena Rybakina. There will also be doubles action on the show courts and across Wimbledon.

Already in the semi-finals is defending men’s champion, Novak Djokovic, who sealed his place in his 46th grand slam semi-final as he saw off the challenge of Andrey Rublev. Meeting him will be Jannik Sinner, the 21-year-old Italian, who became the second youngest man to reach this stage of Wimbledon since 2007 when he defeated Roman Safiullin in his quarter-final.

Who is in the Wimbledon semi-finals?
In the women’s section, Ons Jabeur got her revenge on Elena Rybakina to set up a semi-final clash with Aryna Sabalenka. In the reverse of last year’s final, Jabeur fought from a set down to earn a brilliant 6-7 6-4 6-1 win, flashing a stunning array of winners to break Rybakina twice in the third set and end the 24-year-old’s title defence.
After Sabalenka was banned from competing at the Championships last year, the Belarusian defeated the in-form American Madison Keys to return to the semi-finals, winning four games in a row to turn the second set around and win 6-4 6-2.

Timeline of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine controversy at Wimbledon 2023
Wimbledon is braced for the possibility of a politically-charged final as top players from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine remain in contention at the Championships.
Russia’s Daniil Medvedev, the third seed, is also having his best run at the tournament and is through to the semi-finals for the first time.
It comes a year after players from Russia and Belarus were banned from the All England Club following the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, and Wimbledon has been unable to avoid controversy after allowing players from both countries to return to the tournament in 2023.

Charismatic Eubanks delights crowds during his best grand slam appearance
Speaking about his future after reaching the Wimbledon quarter-finals, Christopher Eubanks said: “It’s a bit tough right after the match to jump right into setting lofty goals at this point.
“If I can continue to have the joy that I had on court for these past three weeks, continue to work as hard as I’ve been doing over the past year, I think good things are going to happen and it’s kind of going to take care of itself.
“I’m having a great time. I’m probably having the most fun I’ve ever had in playing tennis. I’m going to continue to try to ride this momentum out.
In addition to his standout results and all-action performances, Eubanks also attracted attention due to having a similar name to British former boxing world champion Chris Eubank.
“I think the first I heard about him was probably right after I went pro,” he said. “I had a Wikipedia page. All of a sudden I saw there was a name very similar to mine. That was when I started to be like, ‘who is this guy? He seems to be a pretty cool guy’.
“I don’t know nearly that much about him. I do know he is a pretty sharp dresser and I guess I’d say flamboyant – is that a right word to use about him?”.

Chris Eubanks confident he can hang with the best after memorable Wimbledon run
Chris Eubanks believes he is able to compete with the world’s best following his remarkable run at Wimbledon but intends to avoid setting “lofty goals”.
He upset seeded stars Cameron Norrie and Stefanos Tsitsipas en route to the quarter-finals and looked set to once again punch above his weight before his progress was halted by defeat in a five-set thriller with 2021 US Open champion Daniil Medvedev.
“I would say I definitely believe a lot more in my ability to contend with some of the best players in the world,” he said following his 6-4 1-6 4-6 7-6 (4) 6-1 loss on Court One.
“It’s tough to really know until you’ve played some of the best players in the world.
“I’ve seen how my game stacks up against them, how I can disrupt them, how I can frustrate them.
“I think it just gives me added confidence in my ability that I know I can compete with some of the best players in the world, whereas maybe I didn’t fully know or believe that before.”

Mika Stojsavljevic reaches Wimbledon junior semi-finals at the age of 14
Fourteen-year-old Mika Stojsavljevic is among a trio of British juniors to make it through to the Wimbledon quarter-finals.
Stojsavljevic, who is ranked 282nd and making her Wimbledon debut, followed up her second-round victory over fourth seed Lucciana Perez Alarcon by taking out Australian 13th seed Emerson Jones 6-1 7-5.
“I think it went really well, especially in the first set, I felt like I was just cruising, really comfortable out there,” said Stojsavljevic. “It was a bit of a surprise, I thought I’d be a little bit more nervous but I was quite chill.”
