Actor Neha Sharma’s father, Ajit Sharma, who is a Congress leader, has hinted at her entry into politics. Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Ajit Sharma, Congress MLA from Bihar’s Bhagalpur, said that both the party and he wanted Neha Sharma to fight the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
“The party (Congress) wanted my daughter, Neha Sharma, a Bollywood star, to contest in the Lok Sabha elections. I talked to her (about the same), but she remains very busy with various events and shooting,” Ajit Sharma told reporters.
He said that Neha informed him about her inability to contest in the upcoming general elections owing to lack of adequate time.
“She said ‘Papa, I cannot fight this time. Had you or the party told me five to six months before, I would definitely have contested’,” Ajit Sharma added.
He said that Neha Sharma has expressed her desire to fight the elections next time should the Congress party or her father ask her to do so.
The Congress MLA also dismissed any claims of ‘parivarvaad’ (dynasty politics) while talking about his wish to pitch his daughter for the upcoming polls.
Neha Sharma made her Bollywood debut in 2010, starring opposite Emran Hashmi in ‘Crook’. She has since acted in multiple films, including Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 in 2013, and Tanhaji in 2020, among others. She has 21 million followers on Instagram.
Meanwhile, Ajit Sharma exuded confidence in the INDIA bloc’s seat-sharing agreement in Bihar, which is yet to come to a consensus. He said that the Opposition-headed alliance would “wipe out” the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections and would create history so much so that it would shock everyone.
