Why Chinese President Xi Jinping not attending G20 Summit in India

As India prepares to host the G20 summit in 2023, the Chinese president’s absence in the meeting boils various controversies. Let’s have a look at all the possible explanations.

India will host this year’s G-20 Summit on September 9 and 10. In this summit, world leaders will come together to brainstorm on different issues, but China’s President Xi Jinping will be absent from this meeting in his place, China’s Prime Minister Li Qiang will attend the G20 Summit.

US President Joe Biden has also expressed disappointment over the news of Xi Jinping not coming to Delhi. According to American media reports, Biden said that he is disappointed with Jinping not attending the G 20 meeting. However, Biden Has expressed hope that he will meet him soon.

G-20 is a forum of the countries with the top 20 largest economies of the world and it was formed after the economic recession in the year 2008. China is currently the second largest economy in the world, so from this meeting many questions are being raised on Jinping’s distance.

These questions are also important because Xi Jinping had come to participate in the meeting of BRICS countries held in South Africa only last month… but for the G-20, instead of coming himself, he has decided to send his Premier.

President of America Joe Biden, Prime Minister of Britain Rishi Sunak and President of France Emmanuel Macron are reaching Delhi to participate in this meeting.

There can be various reasons behind Xi Jinping’s absence.

China had released its new map a few days ago. In this map, China had told Aksai Chin as well as Arunachal Pradesh as its share. India had also given a befitting reply to China’s action. Not only this, the G-20 meeting was also been held in Arunachal Pradesh and China was even more agitated.

Another reason for Jinping not coming to Delhi could be India’s growing stature. In the last few years, the stature of India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has increased rapidly all over the world…Hosting a big group like G-20 is also a symbol of India’s growing stature.

Xi Jinping knows that G-20 is India’s show, the more this show becomes a hit, the stronger will be India’s reputation. In such a situation, it is possible that Xi Jinping wants to make this show fade away by keeping distance from Delhi.

India’s non-acceptance of China’s conditions could also be a major reason for Jinping’s absence. It is being said that the stage was being set for bilateral talks between Modi-Jinping amid the border dispute it is possible that some such conditions may have been set by Jinping before the talks. which India has refused.

It is also possible that Xi Jinping is currently avoiding facing or meeting US President Joe Biden. Because after the balloon controversy, the relations between the two countries are going through a difficult situation in such a situation, Jinping may avoid meeting with Biden without getting his conditions accepted.

It is also possible that by not attending the G20 conference, Jinping is trying to give a message to the western countries. Because the G20 countries are somehow dominated by the western countries, especially the US, while Jinping wants to challenge the dominance of the western countries by expanding organizations like BRICS and SCO…and it may not happen in the G-20 meeting. His decision to come has something to do with this too.
