Werewolf Santa vs Best. Christmas. Ever!

“I can’t imagine spending the holidays together after what happened.” Yeah, no monsters at dinner next time grandma. Let’s have some fun today with these new trailers this week – shall we? Netflix + Miracle Media have each debuted official trailers for holiday-themed movies coming out this fall – and they both look terrible. Which one is worse…? Which one seems like it has less originality to offer? One is a Hallmark Channel movie rip off, the other will rip off your face while you’re watching some Hallmark Channel movies. Netflix is releasing a romantic comedy called Best. Christmas. Ever! this fall, the latest from filmmaker Mary Lambert (who also made 2021’s A Castle for Christmas on Netflix). Starring Heather Graham, Brandy Norwood, Jason Biggs and Matt Cedeño. Miracle Media is releasing this goofy UK horror comedy called Werewolf Santa, which originally premiered at FrightFest 2023 in London a few months ago. Starring Katherine Rodden, Emily Booth, Mark Arnold, and Charlie Preston. Santa Claus is coming to town and he wants more than milk and cookies… Both of these look like holiday junk, but that’s what makes them trash.

Here’s the first official trailer for Mary Lambert’s Best. Christmas. Ever!, direct from YouTube:

And here’s the official trailer for Airell Anthony Hayles’ Werewolf Santa, direct from YouTube:

Every Christmas Jackie sends a boastful holiday newsletter that makes her old college friend Charlotte feel like a lump of coal. When a twist of fate lands Charlotte and her family on Jackie’s snowy doorstep just days before Christmas, she takes the opportunity to prove her friend’s life can’t possibly be that perfect. Best. Christmas. Ever! is directed by American filmmaker Mary Lambert, director of the movies Siesta, Pet Sematary, Grand Isle, Pet Sematary II, Clubland, The In Crowd, A Castle for Christmas previously, as well as lots of music videos, other short films, and TV work, including an episode of “The Goldbergs”. The screenplay is written by Charles Shyer and Todd Gallicano. It’s produced by Brad Krevoy. Netflix will debut Best. Christmas. Ever! streaming on Netflix globally starting November 16th, 2023 coming soon this fall.

Santa turns into a werewolf on Christmas Eve, and wreaks havoc in a small seaside town – meanwhile, Lucy has a show called ‘Monster Hunter’s’ on Youtube, but it’s not doing too great with just a few viewers following her. That is until, on Christmas Eve, her camera witnesses Santa get bit by a werewolf in the local park, before turning into a werewolf himself. Lucy and her family then set off on an adventure to somehow save Christmas, armed with a rusty ice skate and a vague understanding of how werewolves operate. Werewolf Santa is directed by indie genre filmmaker Airell Anthony Hayles, also of the films They’re Outside, Spider Inside Her, The Krampus Calendar, and Midnight Peepshow previously. Produced by Dovile Kirvelaityte and Airell Anthony Hayles. Miracle Media will debut Werewolf Santa direct-to-VOD in the UK starting on November 6th, 2023 coming soon this fall. So which of these movies looks better?
