Strictly Come Dancing is back (Picture: PA)

Saturday nights are about to get a whole lot more sparkly – as Strictly Come Dancing is back for its 2023 series.

We’ve already met the 15 celebrities taking part this year in last weekend’s launch show – which also saw them paired up with their pro partners – and Saturday night will give us our first chance to see what they’re capable of as they make their live show debut.

Expect cha chas, tangos, jives and even the odd samba as everybody slips into their sequins and struts their stuff for the judges – but what time does it all kick off tonight, and how can you watch it?

Here’s all the information you need to know…

What time is Strictly Come Dancing on tonight?

Strictly Come Dancing’s first live show begins tonight at 6.15pm on BBC One.

Make sure you’re settled in by then with all your snack and drink needs attended to – because as is traditional for the first show of the series it’s even longer than a Hollywood blockbuster, running for two hours and 20 minutes.

It’s due to end at 8.35pm, ahead of the new series of Michael McIntye’s The Wheel – another sign that autumn is well and truly upon us.

If you miss it you’ll be able to catch up via the BBC iPlayer.

Saturday night’s show will see all 15 couples take to the floor with their first routines of the series – hence the hefty running time.

There’s no public vote this week as the first elimination is not until next week, giving each of them two chances to impress the judges and the folks at home before one couple makes an early exit.

The points given by the judges on tonight’s show will be added to those given next weekend along with the votes from the public, to determine who will be in the first dance-off of the series.
