According to civic officials, the incident was reported around 3 pm on Wednesday afternoon, after which videos were shared on social media showing a huge gush of water from the pipeline, rising up to a height of 50 metres.

“The pipeline has 1,200 mm diameter and following the blast, water gushed out… The leakage was stopped immediately by cutting the supply network,” said an official.

According to BMC officials, Lokhandwala, SVP Nagar and Millat Nagar in Andheri West will not have water supply until the repair work is completed.
