She’s the woman who put performance art on the map – with thousands and thousands queuing up to sit opposite her in silence – and even getting her work featured on the original Sex and the City.

Now, Marina Abramovic’s anthology of endurance is centre stage at London’s Royal Academy – the first time in the academy’s 250-year history that its main galleries have been devoted solely to a female artist.

The exhibition was postponed for three years due to Covid – but it finally opened to the public this weekend.

Kiran Moodley has been speaking to the Serbian-born artist.
