Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with his Australian counterpart Penny Wong and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in Canberra on Wednesday, the newest indication that the relationship is warming up after a period of tension.
In his opening remarks at the meeting with Wong, Wang stated that China and Australia’s economies are “highly complementary” and have great potential. But he warned that the relationship should not be disrupted by “any third party,” probably a veiled reference to Australia’s strategic alliance with the U.S.
