UP’s 19-Yr-Old Woman Hacked to Death by Two Brothers. One of Them Had Raped Her 3 Years Ago

A 19-year-old woman was hacked to death in broad daylight in Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambi district. Police said on Tuesday that the accused are two brother, one of whom is accused of raping her.

Officers said that the killers, Ashok and Pawan Nishad, had been released on bail a few days before the horrific murder.

Local reports stated that the woman was butchered with an axe on the main road, while scared villagers watched helplessly. She was reportedly raped by Pawan Nishad three years ago, when she was a minor.

Local reports further stated that Pawan Nishad (and his associates) had been harassing the woman and her family since the alleged rape. They wanted the family to drop all charges.

Police said that Pawan’s brother, Ashok Nishad, is an accused in a separate murder case. He was released less than two days before the woman’s murder

A report in NDTV quoted police as explaining that Pawan was out of jail by this time and the two plotted to confront the woman’s family and force them to close the case.

The young woman, however, refused to back down after which the brothers chased and slaughtered her while she was returning from grazing her family’s cattle at a nearby field. Pawan and Ashok Nishad are now on the run, police added.

Brijesh Srivastava, Kaushambi superintendent of police, said, “There was a dispute between two parties in the same community regarding an old rivalry and litigation… members of one party killed the girl with a sharp weapon. A police complaint was filed and the accused have been booked.”
