ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, May 29. Political
consultations between the delegations of Turkmenistan and
Kazakhstan were held in Astana, where the development of bilateral
cooperation was discussed, Trend reports.
According to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, the meeting was
headed by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of
Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of
Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu.
During the talks, the sides noted the dynamic development of the
Turkmen-Kazakh strategic partnership, and also exchanged views on
key issues of bilateral cooperation, considering the level of
political and diplomatic dialogue and the implementation of
previously reached agreements, emphasizing the crucial role of
high-level contacts to strengthen long-term cooperation.
The delegations noted the positive experience of working
together within the framework of international and regional
structures such as the UN, OIC, ECO, CIS and CA+ formats, and also
stressed the intention to increase multilateral cooperation.
The parties discussed trade and economic cooperation, which has
great potential, and the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Kazakh
Commission’s role in implementing joint projects in priority
sectors like fuel and energy, transport and logistics, and
industry.
At the end of the consultations, the ministers agreed to
intensify cooperation between the foreign ministries, and also
indicated interest in building partnerships in the cultural and
humanitarian spheres, including science, education, and
healthcare.
Meanwhile, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan are actively developing
cooperation in the economic and political spheres, which is
reflected in an increase in trade turnover and the implementation
of joint infrastructure projects such as transport and logistics
corridors and energy projects.
The two countries also cooperate within the framework of
international organizations such as the CIS and the UN,
strengthening regional security and stability.
