Vitor Roque decided to join Barcelona despite having offers of over £85million on the table from Manchester United and Tottenham.

That’s according to the Brazilian wonderkid’s agent , who says his client turned down bigger offers to move to the Camp Nou.

Roque, 18, will join Barcelona in 2024 after agreeing an initial £26m move to the Camp Nou.

The deal could eventually reach a figure of around £52m, and Barcelona had to beat off high-profile interest from rivals Real Madrid in order to sign the teenager.

The Athletico Paranaense has been compared to Brazil legend Ronaldo for his style of play and he’s already been capped for his country.

Barcelona are understandably delighted to have beaten rivals Real Madrid to his signature.

But his agent claims there was significant interest from the Premier League in the form of Manchester United and Tottenham.

It’s claimed both sides offered more than £85m to sign Roque but the wonderkid chose Barcelona.

‘We received much bigger offers from Tottenham and Manchester United for Vitor Roque,’ said Andre Cury.

‘It was over €100 million. But his career plan is well mapped out and we opted for Barcelona. The moment is not to look at the money but the career.’
