This might not be a surprise.
As the 2023 edition of the BILD Alberta Awards announced it winners, Calgary’s Ultimate Renovations walked away with one of the top awards, just as it has done for the past three years.

For fourth straight year, it won as the province’s top renovator by taking the Renovator Pinnacle Award once more.
Ultimate led the Calgary contingent of winners with a total of three on the night. Calgary builders and renovators ended up with 12 awards as the Building Industry and Land Development Alberta Association unveiled the winners at a mid-September gala in Banff.
But you could also say Calgary laid some claim to two more of the four Pinnacles with one going to Brookfield Residential Alberta and the other to Homes by Avi Alberta, both of which build in Calgary and Edmonton. Brookfield took the Developer Pinnacle Award, while Homes by Avi won the Large Volume Builder Pinnacle Award.
Pinnacles are presented to members who successfully placed within the competition, demonstrated industry leadership, and a commitment to raising the bar in Alberta’s construction landscape through safety leadership and community service.

“The BILD Alberta Awards are a celebration of the remarkable contributions of members,” said Scott Fash, CEO, BILD Alberta. “Each year, we are astounded by the creativity and dedication exhibited by those who shape Alberta’s residential spaces. These awards underscore our industry’s commitment to innovation, safety, and the creation of communities that stand as a testament to outstanding design and livability.”
Ultimate also won for Kitchen Renovation Over $100,000 with its The Marvelous Kitchen Makeover entry and took the Renovator’s Choice award for its Urban Retreat entry. Again, it was no surprise Ultimate won the category as it secured all three finalist spots with its Urban Retreat up against its Eagle’s Nest and Lavish Outdoor Living projects.
Calgary renovators made a big splash overall.
Crafted Edge Homes, Kay2 Contracting and Reborn Renovations each took one award, all for renovations. Crafted Edge won Home Renovation Under $400,000, Kay2 won Home Renovation $400,000-$750,000 and Reborn won for Bathroom Renovation. Calgary renovators took six of the eight renovation awards including its Pinnacle counterpart.

Calgary communities, meanwhile, snagged some honours, too.
Harmony, the award-winning lake and golf development in Springbank from Bordeaux Developments and Qualico Communities, added another by capturing the Growing Community category.
Currie, from Canada Lands Co., got the Community Event award for Light the Night. Canada Lands’ Edmonton counterpart was also a winner with its Village at Griesbach winning Urban Redevelopment and Community Feature.
Douglas Homes was another multiple Calgary winner, taking two awards just as it did at last year. This time it won for Single Family Under $350,000 for its Whistler model and in the Townhome or Duplex $425,000-$500,000 segment for St. Augustine.
The other Calgary winners were Morrison Homes and RareBuilt Homes. Morrison’s the Clifton won Single Family $525,000-$600,000 while Rarebuilt’s The Rae won Townhome or Duplex $500,000-$600,000.
Edmonton builders, meanwhile, had a strong showing taking 20 awards, including Habitat Studio winning the Small Volume Builder Pinnacle Award.
Habitat Studio was the top Edmonton winner with four awards overall. Those included the Garden/Secondary Suite award, Single Family Over $2 million, and Kitchen Renovation Under $100,000.

BILD’s Show Home Parade award went to Brookfield for The Orchards, in southeast Edmonton.
The night’s infill awards, also went to Edmonton. In the two categories, Edmonton builders landed all the finalist spots. Alair Homes Edmonton secured all three spots in the Infill Home Over $1,000,000 category while Art House Residential had two of the three spots in the Infill Home Under $750,000, with Habitat Studio in the other. Alair’s Fort Knox entry and ArtHouse’s Taylor-Baugh Residence were the winners.
Edmonton’s Cantiro won three awards including Safety Leadership Builder.
Alair was one of four Edmonton builders with two wins. Others included Blackstone Homes and City Homes Master Builder. Edmonton builders with one win were StreetSide Developments, Vicky’s Homes and White Eagle Homes.
The Community Service award went to Homes by Avi Alberta, for its 25-year partnership with Jack James High School, in which students learn skills while helping to build a home that is sold at market value.
Red Deer saw two victors, with Alair Homes Red Deer and Larkaun Homes, taking the Single Family $1 million-$1.5 million and Single Family $1.5 million-$2 million categories, respectively.

Medicine Hat was also a winner. Wilde Homes won in the Single Family $800,000-$1 million category.
Durabuilt Windows and Doors, Alberta, won for both Innovative Product or Service for its Delta Fibreglass Windows and Doors as well as the Safety Leadership General Member Award.
There were 365 submissions from across Alberta for this year’s awards. BILD Alberta is the unified voice for Alberta’s land development, home building and renovation industry and represents more than 1,300 industry members from eight constituent associations committed to building communities throughout Alberta.
