Edmonton’s festival season is in full swing and this weekend alone will see no less than a half-dozen festivals go off. There’ll be huge laughs at Grindstone’s comedy festival while Muttstock’s gone to the dogs, Streetfest will fill downtown with art installations and street performers and then there’s the Found Festival in Old Strathcona.

While most festivals are obvious, the entire premise of the Common Ground Arts Society’s Found Festival is art in unexpected places such as Mika Haykowsky’s colourful and quirky sky-rat homes up in the trees.

Running Thursday through Sunday in Old Strathcona, there’s also a music series with a solid line-up of local talent playing in a little outdoor space behind the Arts Barns’ Backstage Theatre at 10330 84 Ave. The festival is free but you do need tickets for The Hoedown, the celebratory after-party curated by Salem Zurch kicking off at 10 p.m. Saturday at the new Mile Zero Dance space, 9931 78 Ave.

The festival is full of surprises so check the lineup and schedule online at commongroundarts.ca and have fun with all you can find!
