One of the most prominent women in Singapore shipping Tan Beng Tee has been appointed to the board of Kenon Holdings.

The New York and Tel Aviv-quoted vehicle controlled by Israeli billionaire Idan Ofer said Tan will assume her role of a non-executive director on August 30.

Tan has decades of shipping industry experience from her previous post as assistant chief executive of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore and her current one as executive director of the Singapore Maritime Foundation.

“She brings a unique perspective and skill set to the table, which will help us as we manage our existing business holdings and look to make key project investments or acquisitions in the future. Her wealth of knowledge and business acumen will help guide the company’s current businesses and play a key role as we look to broaden our business holdings,” said Kenon chairman Cyril Ducau.

Singapore-based Kenon’s primary holdings include power companies OPC Energy and CPV Power and Israeli carrier ZIM. The company’s CEO Robert Rosen has also joined the board as an executive director with immediate effect
