A Delhi police constable posted on picket duty was injured after being hit by an SUV while checking a vehicle at Connaught Place’s Outer Circle earlier this week, the police said.

A video of the incident shows a black SUV approaching the police picket at high speed, hitting the constable, crashing into the barricade and then speeding off.
“During the intervening night of October 23 and 24, during picket checking at Chelmsford picket at around 1.15 am, a black Scorpio hit the barricades and constable Ravi Kumar, posted at the barricades, was hit. He was taken to RML Hospital where he was discharged after treatment,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Pranav Tayal said. Kumar had suffered minor injuries, the police said.
The accused, taxi driver Ram Lakhan, was arrested after he was chased by the Delhi traffic police and his vehicle was seized. A case has been lodged under charges of rash driving and obstruction to public servant from discharging duty, the police said.
