Superb Trailer for Neo-Western Film ‘Head Count’ from Burghart Bros

“Think fast or die trying.” Count up them bullets! Shout Studios has revealed an official trailer for a neo-western thriller titled Head Count, made by the Burghart Brothers. Ben & Jacob Burghart are two up-and-coming genre filmmakers, and this is their feature debut, adapting their own acclaimed 2014 short film of the same name. This look like a clever little film! Great style, and slick vibes. ” A man in a deadly situation recounts how he got there. One shot at a time.” After escaping prison Kat finds his own revolver pointed to his head by an unknown assailant. As the empty rounds click away, Kat tries to remember what happened to each bullet. Head Count stars Aaron Jakubenko, Ryan Kwanten, Melanie Zanetti, Davis DeRock, Chris Bylsma, Addam Bramich, and Jeffrey Staab. This is a fantastic trailer – energetic, eye-catching, nice song, and teasing the story but not giving away to much. Love it, terrific work. I really want to see this.

A gun is pointed to Kat’s head. It’s his gun. Or at least it was after he escaped a chain gang and stole it. Luckily for him though, it’s not fully loaded. But how many bullets are left? He can’t quite remember. And now, with an unknown assailant pulling the trigger, Kat is forced to recall exactly what happened to each bullet. As the empty rounds click away, memories of wild animal attacks, run-ins with an impulsive police officer, a down-to-earth arms dealer, and his ex-lover come flooding back. As the pressure mounts, Kat must figure out how many rounds are left and try to devise a plan to escape… one more time. Head Count is co-directed by filmmakers Ben Burghart & Jacob Burghart (aka the Burghart Brothers), making their feature directorial debut after numerous short films previously. The screenplay is by Ben Burghart, Jacob Burghart, and Josh Doke. Based on their own short from 2014. Produced by Tristan Barr, David Gim, Austin Wagoner. This hasn’t premiered at any festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know. Shout Studios debuts the Burgharts’ Head Count in select US theaters + on VOD starting September 29th, 2023 this fall.
