The Jharkhand assembly witnessed stormy scenes Tuesday as three BJP MLAs were suspended by the Speaker for the rest of the winter session and marshalled out.
Despite Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato repeatedly asking BJP legislators not to shout or raise slogans during question hour, party MLAs Biranchi Narayan, Bhanu Pratap Shahi, and JP Patel went into the Well and raised demands.

“Agar aap log chahein to is prashn kaal ko hangaama kaal ke naam se bula dete hain (If you want, we can rename question hour to ruckus hour),” the speaker said.
The House was adjourned till 12.30 pm, and when the session resumed, the three BJP leaders again rushed into the Well.
Mahato said the legislators were disrupting the proceedings, and suspended them. Following his directions, marshalls led the legislators out of the House.
Leader of Opposition Amar Bauri termed the Speaker’s action “dictatorial”. “We were raising an issue concerning the state’s youth. But the government doesn’t have a reply… We are staging a walkout,” Bauri said. After leaving the House, BJP legislators staged a dharna near the statue of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on the assembly premises.
Congress MLA Pradeep Yadav rubbished claims of the speaker’s actions being “dictatorial”: “If that were the case, all BJP MLAs would have been suspended.”
