The stalemate between the Central and State Governments over establishing of an built-in metal manufacturing unit at Bayyaram in Khammam district continues because the Telangana Authorities is but launch information of the land proposed as the location for MECON Restricted (previously Metallurgical and Engineering Consultants) of the Union Metal Ministry.
The problem figured within the latest assembly of the standing committee of the southern zonal council with Telangana making a powerful pitch for fulfilment of the promise made within the A.P. Reorganisation Act 2014.
House Ministry’s joint secretary (CS) S.Ok. Jindal who chaired the assembly reiterated that it was for the Telangana Authorities to establish the situation for the metal plant following which the MECON would conduct survey of the situation and submit a draft feasibility report (DFR).
The Ministry of Metal had addressed a number of letters to the State Authorities, the final one being on April 6, asking it to make obtainable information concerning the land of the proposed website to MECON for finalising the report.
Establishing of an built-in metal manufacturing unit was an assurance given within the thirteenth schedule of the Act which says, “SAIL shall look at, inside six months from the appointed day (June 2, 2014), feasibility of creating an built-in metal plant in Khammam district of the successor State of Telangana”.

IT and Industries Secretary Jayesh Ranjan assured the SZC Standing Committee {that a} remaining choice on the proposed website shall be communicated to MECON quickly.
