Two killings in separate parts of the city Wednesday have Edmonton 2023 homicide cases now sitting at 33.
There were 29 homicides this time last year and a total of 35 in 2022.

Jordan McDonald, 32, was found with life-threatening injuries Wednesday around 10 a.m. when officers were called to a weapons complaint at an apartment building near 106 Street and 80 Avenue. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) also responded to the call but McDonald died at the scene.

A Friday autopsy determined McDonald died of a gunshot wound, with the case being ruled a homicide, police said in a news release.
Homicide detectives continue to investigate and are calling for tips.
Just hours earlier, around 5 a.m. on Wednesday, officers responding to a weapons complaint in an apartment building near 156 Street and 100 Avenue found a woman with serious, life-threatening injuries. Winter Star Dion, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene despite the efforts of paramedics, police said Thursday.
Police have since charged a 23-year-old woman with first-degree murder.
An autopsy conducted Thursday confirmed Dion died from multiple gunshot wounds. Police say she knew the accused.
Keyannah Rose Redbear, 23 is charged with first-degree murder.
