Scarborough Voted To Impeach Clinton, Slams GOP Move To Impeach Biden

The question arises after Scarborough, on today’s Morning Joe, ripped as “insurrectionists, freaks, and weirdos” Republicans seeking to impeach Joe Biden. Sputtering with outrage, Scarborough twice exclaimed “Oh my God!” at the notion.

But Scarborough somehow failed to mention that in 1998, back in his conservative congressman days, Joe voted . . . to impeach Bill Clinton. Cue Dana Carvey’s SNL Church Lady: how conve-e-e-nient!

So which is it, Joe Scarborough: are you a freak—or a weirdo?

Scarborough’s suppression of his personal history was made even more glaring given Susan Page of USA Today’s description of the “unintended consequences” of the Clinton impeachment, which, she said:

“actually helped Democrats in the 1998 midterms, to have Republicans pursuing an impeachment proceeding that Americans thought didn’t make sense.”

Page went so far as to suggest that the Republican censure of Schiff and the move to impeach Biden jeopardize their hopes of holding onto the House majority in 2024.

But Democrats have presumably forgiven Scarborough’s past transgression in voting to impeach Clinton. After all, he has since established himself firmly in the liberal media fold as one of the most abject defenders of Biden and all things Democrat.

Joe Scarborough slamming Republicans for moving to impeach Joe Biden, while failing to mention that in 1998, as a congressman, he voted to impeach Bill Clinton, was sponsored in part by VRBO, Pfizer, maker of an RSV vaccine, Walgreens, and Infiniti.

Here’s the transcript.

MSNBC’s Morning Joe6/22/236:09 am EDT

JOE SCARBOROUGH: You’ve got this “Biden crime family” nonsense. And now impeachment! Oh, my God! Oh, my God!

Thank God we don’t have a $31 trillion debt that, that Donald Trump basically gave us, and these same Republicans gave us. Thank God we don’t have any concerns with China. Thank God we don’t have any concerns with the economy. Thank God we don’t have any concerns about skrocketing college costs. Thank God!

It’s far more important for MTG and Lauren Boebert to go fight on the floor [of the House] and call each other bitches. Because they’re having a race to impeach Joe Biden. Over what? Nothing! More gesturing!

More — this is what we warned about if they put insurrectionists, weirdos, and freaks in charge of the people’s House. And they have put weirdos, insurrectionists, and freaks in charge of the people’s House. And this [slams the table] is what people in those districts get.

. . .

SUSAN PAGE:  Well, let’s talk about unintended consequences.I mean, what is the consequence for Alan [sic, Adam] Schiff politically from being censored? It is to bolster his fundraising for his Senate race.

SCARBOROUGH: Right.

PAGE: It is to burnish his credentials as someone who stands up to Republicans and investigated former President Trump.

What are the consequences of pursuing these impeachment matters against President Bidenf or Republicans? I think it might be something–there might well be the kind of backlash we saw with the Clinton impeachment, where it actually helped Democrats in the 1998 midterms to have Republicans pursuing an impeachment proceeding that Americans thought didn’t make sense.

So this is — this is, it’s not a good thing to be censored by the House in many ways. But this is very risky business for Republicans, including their hopes of holding on to the House the next time around.
