Transportation Safety Board investigators are looking into an accident involving a small plane at Boundary Bay Airport in Delta.

The board says the accident occurred just before noon Thursday when a privately registered Mooney M20R single-engine plane hit the ground short of one of the airport’s runways.

The pilot, the only person on board, was not injured.
The collision didn’t cause a fire, but the aircraft had substantial damage, said the board.
B.C. Emergency Health Services says it was notified just before noon, but paramedics did not care for or transport anyone to hospital.
The safety board says in a statement that investigators will gather information and assess the occurrence.
Boundary Bay Airport is about 30 kilometres south of downtown Vancouver and bills itself as Canada’s busiest private-flight, or general aviation, airport.
