Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell of California says former San Francisco 49ers and Jacksonville Jaguars fullback Bruce Miller despatched him what he known as a “threatening” message on Twitter.
Swalwell shared a screenshot Wednesday of a direct message purportedly despatched by Miller that learn: “Virtually time!!! Would you relatively Guantanamo or simply execution,” adopted by a sequence of laughing emojies.
“f****n’ traitor,” the message concluded.
Swalwell requested on Twitter who was sending a message “threatening to execute me? And the way does he have so many followers?”
CBS Bay Space stories that Swalwell reported Miller to the Capitol Police.
Miller was drafted by the 49ers in 2011 and performed 5 seasons for them. He was minimize previous to the 2016 season after he was charged with a number of felonies for the alleged assault of a 70-year-old man and his 29-year-old son, CBS Bay Space says. The costs have been later dropped.
In June 2015, Miller pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor cost of disturbing the peace after being accused of throwing and smashing his ex-fiancée’s cellphone throughout an argument at a lodge, in accordance with CBS Bay Space.
Swalwell, whose district encompasses a part of the Bay Space, mentioned Thursday that the 49ers had “reached out to me this afternoon relating to this risk from a former participant. As a lifelong member of ‘The Devoted,’ I respect them sharing their concern.”
After being out of soccer for a number of years, Miller signed a one-year contract with the Jaguars in 2020 and appeared in eight video games, however hasn’t performed within the NFL since that season.
