Reserve Financial institution of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das on Thursday mentioned that the central financial institution will not be considering of withdrawing Rs 500 notes, or re-introducing notes in Rs 1,000 denomination, and requested the general public to not speculate.
In a post-MPC press convention, RBI Governor Das mentioned, “Rs 1.80 lakh cr of Rs 2,000 notes, representing practically half of the excellent notes within the withdrawn denomination, have returned again.”
“On provisional foundation, about 85 per cent of Rs 2,000 notes are coming again as deposits into financial institution accounts,” Das added.
The RBI on Could 19 introduced the withdrawal of its highest worth foreign money notice, Rs 2,000, from circulation, including that the notes will proceed to be authorized tender.
The financial institution mentioned the present Rs 2,000 notes might be deposited or exchanged in banks till September 30, however set a restrict of “Rs 20,000 at a time”.
Rs 2,000 notes have been launched throughout demonetisation in November 2016, when Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes have been withdrawn.
