The state government has invited private agencies and NGOs working in the education sector to participate in designing the State Curriculum Framework (SCF) under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT), located in Pune, is currently working to prepare SCF based on the recommendation of the National Curriculum Framework (NCF), in line with NEP 2020.

This development and designing of curriculum is of four types – foundational learning, school education, teacher training and adult education.
The SCERT has issued a circular asking interested individuals and organisations to register with them to participate in the process of developing SCF.

“Along with the government, there are several NGOs and individuals who are working in rural, inaccessible or tribal areas of Maharashtra to ensure quality in basic school level education. Many of them have brought in innovative concepts in their way of imparting education resulting in improved quality of education. Their experience and expertise can be advantageous in preparing a new curriculum,” states the circular issued by the SCERT.
Calling it a good move, Mahendra Ganapule, spokesperson for Maharashtra State School Principals’ Association, said, “This will bring various perspectives into the new curriculum.”
A senior teacher from a Mumbai school, Jaywant Kulkarni, however, said, “Syllabus changes or curricular restructuring has always been the responsibility of subject experts. Committees are formed by the SCERT for the purpose. Asking for suggestions is one thing but this is first-time that private organisations will be participants in preparing the SCF.”
