A major London station has been locked down by protestors who have staged a sit-down campaign in the middle of rush hour.

A sea of people, many of which holding banners and Palestinian flags, have sat in the main foyer of Liverpool Street station, connecting the centre of the capital with north east London.

People can be heard chanting: “What do we want? Ceasefire. When do we want it? Now.” The group staging the movement is SOAS Detainee Support (SDS) who forewarned of the planned campaign earlier today.

Onlookers entering the station have branded the action as “absolutely massive” and say there are thousands present.

Those who are not a part of the action are seen zig-zagging between the those sat on the floor as they navigate the crowds.

The SDS group said on X, formerly Twitter: “Hundreds packing out the station – get down here now and show your solidarity.”

One bystander took to X and added: “Pro Palestine demonstration in the middle of Liverpool Street station, love to see it.”

Sisters Uncut said: “There will be no business as usual until genocide ends, we are shutting down Liverpool Street station, join us.”

According to live departure boards, there are no known affects to trains leaving or entering the station.
