The body of a 38-year-old woman was discovered Sunday afternoon in a residence in the borough of Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie. Police are treating the circumstances surrounding her death as suspicious.
A man found in the apartment when police arrived was taken in for questioning and is being treated as a material witness in connection with the woman’s death.
Police were sent to the dwelling on Bourbonnière St. near Laurier Ave. after a 911 call was received at about 5:30 p.m.
Officers arriving at the address found the woman unconscious on the ground, said police spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils. The woman was declared dead at the scene.
The circumstances surrounding the woman’s death have yet to be established but there were traces of violence on her body.
A crime scene was set up the site of incident and the investigation was continuing Monday morning.
