Peter Andre admitted watching his daughter fall in love was agonising as he learnt to loosen the parenting reins on 16-year-old Princess.
The Mysterious Girl singer, 50, shares the teenager with his ex-partner and former glamour model Katie Price. The pair also have a son Junior, 18, together.
Coming to terms with the fact that his daughter has a boyfriend has been a challenge for the star however he revealed his wife Emily McDonagh offered him some advice on how best to handle the situation.
Budding star Princess went public with her new relationship on her YouTube channel earlier this year and has been snapped out and about with her beau since then.
Peter spoke about his child’s love life for the first time and told Woman magazine: ‘I’m not happy about this at all. I’m struggling beyond belief, but that’s life. We’ve had many chats. I have very strict rules in my house.
‘I had this rule that would never have a boyfriend until she was 38, and now she’s 16 and she’s talking about boys!’
He went on to share that his other half Emily had reassured him with some words of wisdom: ‘Emily really made me realise that I can’t treat her differently to how I treated Junior at that age.
‘That’s where my old school mentality had to change. It took a while, but I’ve got there.’
Peter recently celebrated his daughter’s birthday and wished her a happy 16th on Instagram with a sweet montage showing pictures and videos from their celebratory lunch.
In the clips, Princess, Emily and Junior posed together as they showered the teenager with number 16 balloons and a massive pink cake complete with sparklers.

He shared the post with a caption that read: ‘Such a sweet day. @officialprincess_andre @officialjunior_andre @dr_emily_official @sophiebakescakes.co.uk @spaghettitreewalton @galubanstead #sweet16 [sic].’
Fans rushed to send their own well-wishes underneath the post and commented on the young star’s beauty as she turned another year older.
One penned: ‘Happy Birthday to your beautiful daughter. May God continue to bless her and give her all that her heart desires.’
Another said: ‘Looks like a lovely family celebration for a very special young lady. Happy Birthday @officialprincess_andre.’
