Parineeti Chopra had donned an ivory lehenga by designer Manish Malhotra for her wedding with politician Raghav Chadha. Now, the designer has revealed that Parineeti’s lehenga had a special piece close to her heart: her nani’s challa i.e. keychain.
“I missed my nani on my special day but had a piece of her on me,” the actor revealed in an Instagram story. Parinetti wanted to pay a heartfelt tribute to her nani, who used to wear the same challa in her saree with the keys, a symbol of being the lady of the house.
For Parineeti, the sound of the challa when her nani walked around the house, was a melody of strength and grace, revealed Manish Malhotra, adding that is when he “knew we HAD to add that piece of legacy to her lehenga.”
The challa had more elements added to it that were significant to both Raghav and Parineeti, which include London where they reportedly met while pursuing their studies at the London School of Economics; music, Khanda Sahib and more.
“It was not just an accessory… but a piece of her that Parineeti would have on her special day,” said Malhotra.
Parineeti expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Manish on the Instagram post, commenting, “I LOVE YOU M. There is NO ONE like you.”

According to the designer, the “exquisitely hand-crafted wedding ensemble” took over 2,500 hours to make in the atelier. Parineeti added another personalised touch to her lehenga with her to-be-husband Raghav’s name embroidered on it in Devnagari script.
Parineeti went for a traditional heavily embellished lehenga for her wedding, though she had opted for a pink Barbie-esque sari for her reception. She was carrying a double dupatta. She contrasted the ivory tones of the outfit with her diamond and Russian emerald jewels, also from Manish Malhotra’s jewellery collection.

The choli and dupattas had pearl detailing on the hem, which contrasted well with the layers of diamond and emerald necklaces she was wearing. Parineeti donned a matching maang tikka and opted for massive stud earrings.
Like the ever-modern bride, the actor chose pink chooda, instead of the traditional red ones; with emerald studded kadas.
