Overstrand deputy mayor, Councillor Lindile Ntsabo, has issued a warning to members of the general public to not devour the meat of the Bryde’s whale that washed up on the rocks close to Schulphoek, Hermanus.

The whale carcass was sighted floating within the water near Hermanus Seashore Membership yesterday, 17 Might 2023, earlier than it washed up on the rocks close to Schulphoek.

Ntsabo emphasised that the meat and blubber have decayed and pose a danger of meals poisoning to anybody who consumes it.

The scientists from the Overberg Stranding Community have been unable to find out the precise explanation for demise, and sadly, there may be little or no remaining materials appropriate for sampling.
