Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi’s film, “OMG 2,” has officially revealed its release date on an OTT platform. Following its box office clash with “Gadar 2” in August, the movie is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on October 8. The platform shared this exciting update via Instagram on Tuesday, writing, “We’ve got great news for you, and OMG can you tell we’re 2 excited? #OMG2 arrives on October 8th on Netflix.”

In response to the announcement, enthusiastic fans flooded the comments section, urging Netflix to release the uncensored version of the film. One social media user emphasized, “Release it without the censor board cuts,” while another inquired, “Is this the extended uncensored cut that was promised?” Another fan politely requested, “Please release the uncut version.”

However, director Amit Rai has confirmed that the online release will not include the uncensored version. In a conversation with Hindustan Times, he not only conveyed this disappointing news but also criticized the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). This update comes just a month after…

For those unfamiliar with the background, “OMG 2” initially saw a theatrical release with 27 cuts mandated by the Censor Board. However, last month, there was a promise to release the complete version of the film online. Nevertheless, plans have taken a different turn. Addressing this development, Amit explained that Netflix is not willing to stream the uncut version, and he expressed uncertainty about the platform’s reservations. He remarked, “I don’t know what their apprehensions are. They will show the same version that the Censor Board passed. What more can we do? Despite the entire nation protesting, the Censor Board remains unyielding, so there’s little that can be done.” Amit also noted that several crucial scenes, including those aimed at educating people about topics like sex and masturbation, were removed during the editing process.

“OMG 2” serves as the sequel to Akshay Kumar’s 2012 film, “Oh My God.” In the movie, Akshay Kumar portrays the character of a messenger of Lord Shiva. The film faced delays due to the Censor Board’s intervention, which resulted in approximately 27 changes being mandated for the filmmakers. Following these adjustments, “OMG 2” received an ‘Adults Only (A)’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film also features Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam in pivotal roles.
