Australian golfer Min Woo Lee has secured a wire-to-wire, record-breaking win at the Macau Open, shooting a final-round 63 to secure a two-shot victory over Thailand’s Poom Saksanin.

Lee, who was ranked 47th in the world heading into the Asian Tour event, finished at 30-under par – a tournament record – to win for the first time since his 2021 Scottish Open triumph.

The previous Macau Open record-winning score was set by Queenslander Scott Hend, who shot 20-under in winning the event in 2015.

“I played wonderful, really flawless golf for a lot of the holes,” a delighted Lee said.

“There were only a few holes that I could really look back on, but I’m really proud of the way I handled myself.”

The 26-year-old Perth product started Sunday’s final round two shots clear of Saksanin, who also finished with a sizzling eight-under 63 at the par-71 Macau Golf and Country Club course.

“Poom played unbelievable today” Lee said.

“He never left, he just stayed around. I tried my best and ended up on top, but he was giving it to me for the whole time.”

Andrew Dodt was the second-highest Australian finisher, with his final-round 65 giving him a tournament total of 15-under and a tie for 11th on the leaderboard.
