In a letter to the president of the Voice of the Folks Celebration, Ardent M Basaiawmoit, ECI undersecretary Manish Kumar stated, “I’m directed to state that on the idea of a evaluate of the ballot efficiency, the Fee vide its letter dated April 10, 2023, granted recognition to the Voice of the Folks Celebration as a State Celebration within the State of Meghalaya beneath the provisions of the Election Symbols (Reservation & Allotment) Order, 1968.”

Voice of the Folks Celebration
The VPP is a political get together established in November 2021 within the northeastern hill state of Meghalaya.
The get together’s president, Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit, was elected to the Meghalaya Legislative Meeting from the Nongkrem constituency within the 2013 election and was reelected in 2023.
The get together contested 14 constituencies within the 2023 Legislative polls and received 4 seats.
On 20 March 2023, Basaiawmoit and fellow Voice of the Folks Celebration MLAs protested towards the Governor of Meghalaya’s Hindi speech within the first price range session of the Meghalaya Legislative Meeting 2023 by storming out of the session.
They stated that Meghalaya is a non-Hindi state and that the Centre has insulted Meghalaya by sending a governor who can’t communicate within the state’s official language.
