A man in his mid-60s who was found dead at his home in Co Kerry has been named locally as Michael Sheehy.
Mr Sheehy’s remains were found at his home in Scrahan near Duagh in north Kerry on Saturday, December 30 and it is understood he died a number of months ago at his remote home.
He was named after a postmortem was carried out on January 2 and there are no indications of anything suspicious in the circumstances surrounding the discovery.
The farmer was understood to have been a private individual and his home in Scrahan is in an isolated area.
Relatives of Mr Sheehy became concerned and raised the alarm when they were unable to make contact with him over the Christmas period.
Gardaí arrived at his remote home on the evening of December 30 and discovered his body after forcing entry to the property.
A notice on RIP.ie said Mr Sheehy “passed away unexpectedly at his residence”.
“Michael, son of the late John and Betty, is sadly missed by his sisters Margaret and Nuala, brother Leo, nieces Triona and Kathlyn, nephew John, sister-in-law Bridget, Triona’s husband Graham, grandnephew Jack, grandniece Emma, cousins, neighbours and friends,” the notice reads.
Mr Sheehy’s funeral mass will take place on Thursday, January 4, at St Brigid’s Church in Duagh at 11.30am with burial afterwards in Springmount Cemetery, Duagh.
