PLAY BALL

Re “Toronto Blue Jays show off plans for next big Rogers Centre renovation” (Dan Bilicki, July 27): In keeping with producing a better baseball experience, let’s change the name to Rogers Field next year.

(Has a nice ring to it)

IT’S FREE, BUT YOU STILL PAY

Re “Canada’s ‘free’ health-care system is broken” (Lorrie Goldstein, July 27): Our health care never was free. And it was the greatest con job of the 20th century that lives on today in media hype. Working Canadians are hosed through exorbitant taxes to fund a system that denies them timely access. Americans pay for their health care through direct billing. Canadians pay for their health care through long wait times, pain and death in the queue.

Dyan Cross  (who has not had a family doctor since October 2018)                                                               Ottawa

(One day there will be someone who finally stands up and says enough is enough with this broken system)

TOGETHER IS BETTER

After reading Brian Lilley’s column “Protesters make Trudeau look good” (July 23), I must confess this silliness is too much. The problem is that the prime minister and his cohorts have created this division with their own type of hyperbolic statements over the past eight years. They were the ones that stoked this with their own ‘labels’ towards protesters and others who don’t agree with the direction in which they took our country. Instead of trying to bring people together, the PM and his words have divided us. Pandora’s box has been opened — we must all be careful with what we’ve unleashed.

(Trudeau has been the most divisive PM we have had in decades)

IS LILLEY LOSING IT?

Re “Protesters make Trudeau look good” (Brian Lilley, July 23): Was disgusted to read your anti-free speech column about Justin Trudeau in Belleville. No wonder people no longer believe or trust the government-funded news.

Pete Walendzewicz

(He calls it out on all sides)

CHANGING PERSPECTIVE

The column “Affirmative action” on July 23 by Star Parker was excellent on the subject. I think I can, though, put her words into a ‘nutshell.’ Regardless of whether our parents married or not, or our individual world ethnicity, we are all simply prisoners of our own mentality.

Roger Lewis                                                                                                                                                Brampton

(Most people do not want to be hired or achieve something in their life, purely based on the colour of their skin)
