Kyle McKearney, The Royal Foundry, ANNIKA and Jennie Harluk lead the nominations for the YYC Music Awards this year, which will be held Sept. 24 at the Grey Eagle Casino.
The YYC Music Awards Foundation announced the nominees in 27 categories earlier this week. McKearney is up for five awards, including country recording of the year for Mercy, music video of the year and songwriter of the year for Whispering Pines, single of the year for Mercy and solo artist of the year. The Royal Foundry are up for five awards as well, including group of the year and alternative recording of the year for Little High Little Low. They have also been nominated for music video of the year, single of the year and songwriter of the year for the title track of their album. Country singer ANNIKA is up for single of the year for Strangers, which is also nominated for country recording of the year and music video of the year.
Jennie Harluk got the nod for pop recording of the year for Mess of Me and songwriter of the year for I Don’t Get Angry. She is also up for solo artist of the year. Fans can vote for the People’s Choice Award until Aug. 7 at yycmusicawards.com.
