The final episode of the hugely popular Room To Improve on Sunday night went a bit too far in airing fawning praise for presenter Bannon’s ‘bravery’

What emotions are we supposed to feel when watching the latest series of Room To Improve? Envy? Curiosity? An overwhelming sense of unreality? I’m not sure exactly. I certainly felt confused on Sunday night watching the last show of the current series, when one of the show’s participants welled up on screen while describing presenter Dermot Bannon as ‘brave’.
In the series finale, we see Ann Brannigan and her husband David taking on the renovation of Ann’s former family home in Santry, Dublin. Ann bought the home from her grandfather, so it’s sentimental project to her and her sister Emer who lives next door. Ann and David have a big vision and a sizeable budget for the project.
